Hi,
I am an MT for past 10 years in India and now after so much experience of working in different companies I thought of starting my own venture….and this ghost of EMR is starting to rise….I am really not able to make up my mind….there is right now enough work in the market that I can start with the work but cant really say wats gonna happen two years down the line with this EMR thing coming up, can you please shed some light on the effect of EMR in our work.
Thanks,
Puneet

I think this article will have the sort of information you are looking for:
http://health-information.advanceweb.com/Article/Medical-Editing-The-Next-Level-for-MTs.aspx
As evidence by the “Humor” section on this website, there is no computer substitute for a human being on the other end of the line. Our roles may evolve to be more editing than transcribing, but we will always be needed. My suggestion for any venture of your own would be to remain flexible and adapt your vision to include the potential future needs of your clients. I had actually looked into starting my own MTSO instead billing by minutes dictated rather than lines or pages at one time, with current technology it just made more sense. Good luck!
